I'm back...

You'll have to visit with me in person to get a long review of my trip to Prague last week. Suffice to say, it is a beautiful city with amazing architecture and an interesting history. I'm simply incapable of typing long blog entries, so buy me a Mocha Latte at Starbucks if you really want to hear about it. I will have photos up soon though.

A few recent events of note...

  • In reading my friend Chris's blog today, I discovered another of my good friends from NCJC/ACU is blogging down at ACU. I must give these guys credit...they really put a lot of time into their blogs. I wonder if they get research credit for these things? It's amazing the amount of time that goes into a good blog (I'm only guessing, I don't know from experience).
  • Props to JA for making me look like I was standing still all day on the court yesterday. Gheesh! He scored at will...over me, around me, through me. Was there any way to the hole that was NOT clear for his outstretched right hand? At least he missed a good 30% of his 15 footers.
  • I submitted grades 10 days ago? I'm officially out of the classroom until the end of August.
  • I have the honor of introducing one of my favorite college professors at the Pepperdine Lectures this year...David Keller (formerly of NCJC and OVU, now at RC).
  • Did I mention...late August?

Prague - Day One

What a beautiful city! After a fascinating lecture this morning by one of the leading academic economists in the Czech Republic we went on a three hour walking tour of the Castletown area of Prague. What an amazing city. It is rich in history, deservedly proud, and yet reasonably humble. I am very impressed by the people, the architecture, and the relative maturity of free markets here.

Tonight I intend to attend a Vivaldi concert with acoustic guitar duo. It should be wonderful. It costs 400Kc (Czech Crowns) or about $20. But it's in a historic church, its Vivaldi, and its on acoustic guitars. I can't wait. Full report later.

One quick side note...the food here is, well, its, um, interesting. For lunch I had garlic soup with krutons, and sliced pork with sourkrout and gravy. Quite a selection of strong flavors that took two rinses of listerene and one complete tooth-brushing to remove. :-). I'm thinking just bread and cheese for dinner.

On the road again...

I'm in Prague this week co-leading a group of students in an exploration of business in Central and Eastern Europe. It's a beautiful city. The best part is I looked up an old friend from DC...Jakub Tomastik. We are going to get together for dinner this week. It should be great to renew an old friendship. For those of you from NLC you will remember Jakub as the F.O.E. who was studying Economics at GWU.

Easter Photos

Why is it so hard to get a good photo of three kids together in their Easter outfits? I think we've failed nine years in a row to get a perfect photo. See what you think of this year's batch. Oh well, we'll always have next year.
