Happy Thanksgiving!

I'll post photos soon, but let's just say we had a blast with LOTS of friends over for the big Turkey.

Highlights include:

  • A two-on-two basketball game where MTW & I squeeked by DSB & JB.
  • A hike with DSB & Tater out to the end of the Drescher trail.
  • Holding Baby Alex and Baby Simon Jae. So cute!
  • Xbox with DSB, BN, & Dean Smith (Go Golden State!)
  • Seeing Squed for the first time in about three months.
  • Using more Latin than any other "Take Two" player (e.g., Rex, Vox...) and disallowing "Qubig" from the only Republican in PU's political science department.

Tater's Puppy Party

Tater Tot had some friends over Sunday for a Puppy-Themed birthday party. It was so much fun. Here are some photos.

Google Apps for my Domain

I've been a loyal Yahoo! guy for about four years now.  I've steadfastly resisted all the MSN/Google/AOL stuff and stuck with Yahoo! for mail, web services, search, news and shopping.  However, Google may have just relaesed a killer app

With "Google Apps for My Domain" I can creat a customizable portal, email, shared calendars, and chat space within my own domain.  Now that is totally cool PLUS, it involves essentially zero programming.  I'm very impressed.

I am using it on my m5williams site now and it rocks.  Now, if I could just talk Michelle into switching away from that stupid hotmail account....  :-)

Happy Birthday, Tater Tot!

I can't believe my baby is 4 years old!

Ministry and Addiction

I've not said anything about the recent situation with Ted Haggard. I don't think I want to weigh in on the current situation other than to say my heart is broken for his family, his church , and him as a fellow human. We have often said the church should be a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. However, we often do not allow our leaders to experience this kind of atmosphere.

I really do not want to express anything political here only my heart's concern for all of those involved. I did read an interesting editorial from Leadership Journal today and thought it was worth posting here.  (The full article is here).

My new favorite album

Here is my new favorite album...Classic French Rendez-Vous. it's available from MSN music (using Windows Media Player) for only $6. I LOVE the relaxing and mellow mood of the music and you can't possibly beat the sound of French Vocal Jazz. For all I know they are saying "kill the stupid American war mongers!", but it sounds so freakin' romantic! :)

I never thought I would say this, but...

I'm officially tired of perfectly clear blue skies, sunny warmth, and perfect weather. I need a break from the mid-70's to low-80's daily grind of sunshine and blue skies. We've not seen a serious rainstorm in LA since May. That's six months without any variety in the temperature, outlook, or humidity. My buddy PAV sent me photos from his home in Denver last week and I was so jealous of the snow. :(

I mean, don't get me wrong...I love being able to go outside any day and run, play tennis, swim and go to the beach (almost all of which I've done this week). However, I can see why the Hawaiian's don't mind getting a bit of rain every day. It is nice to have a little change up now and then.

Just to show you what I have to live with...I've added an AccuWeather update on this page. If you pay attention you'll see that it almost NEVER changes. It's always 70 and mostly sunny...BORING!.

What to do in Iraq?

This is obviously a very difficult question and one with multiple inadequate answers offered by politicians on both sides of the aisle.  While I certainly do not have the answer, I've found a good resource for understanding multiple perspectives.  If you've not heard six-part series on the subject I recommend it.  You can add it to you Podcasts in iTunes (or Yahoo!) and listen to it on your PC or MP3 player.

Faith and Government

Andrew Sullivan has an excellent post today quoting CS Lewis' view that Theocracy is the absolute worst form of government.

Well said.
